Frizzante Sparkling Wines - Celebrate Moments Properly

Frizzante sparkling wines are lightly sparkling wines, whose noble bubbles come from the second fermentation. This makes them much more refined than Spumante sparkling wines and far more effervescent than any still wine. Let yourself be seduced by a colorful and floral taste. In summer, with friends, as a couple - hardly any occasion or time can escape the freshness of a chilled Frizzante. The most famous Frizzante is undoubtedly the widely loved Prosecco, but even beyond the borders of Veneto, sparkling wines made using the Méthode Charmat are wonderfully fresh. Frizzante from Spain, Germany, and Austria hold their own against Italian sparkling wine, showcasing regional characteristics while remaining true to their origin: fruity, lively, and sparkling are the top priorities.

Frizzante and the Méthode Charmat

To create the bubbles in the wine, a second fermentation takes place in a stainless steel tank. This Méthode Charmat, or tank fermentation method, involves adding sugar and yeast to the base wine and allowing it to ferment in large stainless steel tanks. Over months, natural carbon dioxide is produced, which is bottled along with the base wine. It is also possible to add artificial carbon dioxide to the base wine, but this must be marked on the label with the terms Gassificato or Vino addizionato di anidride carbonica. However, you will not find such sparkling wines with artificial carbon dioxide on VINELLO, as enjoyment should always be of natural origin and not artificial or forced.

Interesting Facts About Frizzante

What is Frizzante?

Frizzante is a lightly sparkling sparkling wine, primarily from Italy. Made using the Méthode Charmat, Frizzante has a light effervescence and typical aromas of fruits and flowers. Frizzante are fresh and crisp sparkling wines for summery and eventful moments with friends and family.

What is the difference between Frizzante and Spumante?

Frizzante is a sparkling wine where, in contrast to Spumante, carbon dioxide may also be added artificially. This is partly why the bubbles in a Frizzante dissipate quickly, while a Spumante still offers bubbles even after being opened for a longer time. Due to its lower carbon dioxide content, there is also less pressure in a Frizzante bottle. Only 1 to 2.5 bars of pressure at 20°C contrast with the high pressure of 3 bars or more found in a Spumante. Therefore, the bottle can only be closed with a Spago (cord), crown cap, or screw cap. The practical advantage of this is that Frizzante sparkling wine does not fall under the sparkling wine tax and can thus be offered at a lower price. Spumante sparkling wines, for example, are sealed with a cork that is securely held in place with a wire cage, known as an agraffe.
