The price is for a rosé wine not quite without, isch but worth it. Alternatively, I like the Clarette.

More information about Miraval Rosé Côtes de Provence AOP - Château Miraval

Although the love of two great Hollywood stars has long since faded, their Miraval Rosé - completely unimpressed by this - is getting better from year to year and has long been mentioned in the same breath as the greats.

In 2008, Angelina Jolie and her husband Brad Pitt - like many stars and starlets before and after them - entered the wine business. They rented the Château Miraval in the French Provence, later bought the vineyard and vinified Provençal wines together with the Perrin winegrowing family, which are still unparalleled today. The love of the former dream couple has passed - the wines remain - to the happiness of us all.

One of the undoubtedly best and most sought-after wines of Château Miraval is the Miraval Rosé Côtes de Provence AOP, which - long since of cult status - vintage after vintage with its enchanting salmon pink shimmer inspires the viewer before even the cork has left the bottle neck, the discreet but no less noble label of the original wine bottle gives the view of this magnificent summery play of colors.

What was promised to the eye so hopeful, the bouquet redeems in the nose, after you uncork the bottle carefully and let the Miraval Rosé Côtes de Provence rippling flow into the crystal clear white wine glass. After a first careful sniff into the glass, images of freshly picked strawberries and tasty raspberries fly by in front of our inner eye. Only then do we swirl the glass filled with Miraval Rosé to bubble the rosé wine with air. This in turn releases delicate aromas of lemon zest and almonds, complemented by subtle floral nuances that evoke impressions of lavender fields in bloom.

The palate has long been filled with irrepressible anticipation by the nose when we finally put on the glass to let the first small sip of Miraval Rosé Côtes de Provence glide over the tongue. We immediately recognize the dominant impressions of freshly picked strawberries and raspberries that the nose has already sniffed out, perfectly complemented by subtle herbal and citrus nuances. The second sip glides no less smoothly over the tongue, telling of a wonderfully balanced texture and a silky, elegant palate experience that lasts into the long, intense finish. What remains at the end is the feeling of incomparable elegance and freshness, and the memory of an overall vinophilic experience that is much more than a simple celebrity wine. And before you know it, the glass is emptied and the next bottle is already uncorked.

Vinification of Miraval Rosé

It takes a lot of time and love to bottle an outstanding wine like Château Miraval Rosé Côtes de Provence AOP. The grapes, which thrive on mineral limestone and clay, are hand-picked in the early morning hours. At this time, the fruit has the greatest freshness. To ensure that this is not lost, the harvest is quickly transported in small crates to the cellar, where the grapes are selected twice to really keep only the best good. Cinsault, Grenache and Rolle are pressed, while Syrah is partially vinified using the Saignee method. Most of the aging is done in stainless steel, while a small percentage is aged in barrels with batonnage.

Food recommendation for the Miraval Rosé

Why not try the summery Château Miraval Rosé Côtes de Provence AOP with crispy salmon trout with seafood on butter julienne and potato-celery mash or with mozzarella chicken in basil cream sauce. This Provençal rosé from the house of Miraval is also suitable as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a picnic in the park on a warm summer day - but don't forget the cool bag, because of course Miraval Rosé is best enjoyed at 8 to 11° C.

Review of the Miraval Rosé by the trade press

Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Miraval Côtes De Provence Rosé is gorgeous. Peach, citrus, and raspberry notes all leap from the glass and it's juicy, vibrant, and crisp on the palate. This is terrific, and I suspect the finest vintage to date for this cuvée."

Wine Enthusiast: "Still owned jointly by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, this beautiful estate has produced a rich, full wine. Made for the owners by the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel in the Rhône Valley, this wine exhibits great sophistication, with rich caramel and strawberry fruit and spice. Drink now."

Natalie MacLean: "This wine doesn't need to ride on the back of Brad and Angelina's celebrity: it stands alone as a terrific, refreshing rosé with aromas of small field strawberries, orange zest and light spices. Should I add though that there's a hint of drama on the nose, with a surprise twist finish? Sure to be a box office hit at your liquor store. Bottled Hollywood style in a lovely, shapely vessel. Lovely ballet slipper pink hue. Finishes floral and elegant. Pair with oysters and movie night."

Decanter: "The fate of this celebrity-owned vineyard which currently belongs to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be uncertain, but there's no doubt about the quality of this fresh, elegant, wild strawberry scented rosé. Drink with: lobster, sea bass."

Falstaff: "Versatile wine: equally suited to aperitifs as to fresh summer cuisine."
