Giving the best to nature and getting the best back
Thierry's estate is just seven hectares in size and covers the communes of Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Couchey and Daix. The terroir is characterized by clay limestone, white marl, lava rock and gravel. In the cellar, everything is state oft he art. Everything is extremely functional, spotlessly clean, it smells of new oak and wine fermentation. The proportion of new oak varies between 20 and 50 percent, depending on the cuvées. Careful consideration is given to the selection of barrels. Thierry aims for a real synergy between the vines and the wood. In the vineyard, Thierry is probably more of a traditionalist. There is little intervention, always gentle treatment of the plants, aeration of the soil by regular plowing, careful pruning in the summer and always everything organic. in 2007, the official switch to organic farming began, and the farm has been certified since 2010.
Thierry's main concern is the perfect ripeness of his grapes. To achieve this, everything is done at every stage of the vegetative cycle of the vine. Always with minimal intervention in the plant itself. For this purpose, yields are also sometimes intentionally throttled. In the result you can feel all the dedication to his wine, it never tastes green, is always perfectly ripened and offers the full spectrum of its character. Thierry produces distinctive wines, full of purity and complexity.
