Rum Malecon a unique story from the world of rum
In 1990, Marco Savio joined his father's company, founded in 1958. At that time, the company produced typical liqueurs for the region and imported coffee to Europe. Because of this, Marco Savio soon began traveling throughout Central America in search of the best coffee plantations.
The foundation for Rum Malecon was laid when he met an important rum master blender who introduced him to the world of rum. This was the starting point for a long journey into a fascinating world full of secrets passed down from generation to generation, which Marco also knew how to use and internalize thanks to his experience as a spirits producer. Through careful study and experimentation over a 10-year period and collaboration with several rum masters in Cuba, Guatemala and Panama, Marco Savio refined his knowledge of Central American rums and made the decision to develop a new product line for his company. Marco Savio began working with master distillers to produce rum according to his exclusive recipes. Thus, in 2000, he founded Rum Malecon. Initially, the range consisted of only 5 products and focused on unique and elegant rums for true connoisseurs. Over the years, the range has been expanded and now covers all market needs. In this way, Marco has realized his vision of making high quality rum accessible to a wide range of customers.
Rum Malecon - Best raw materials
The basis for Rum Malecon is hand-harvested sugar cane, which is harvested near the distillery and left out in the distillery to produce high-quality molasses. Fermentation takes place with plenty of time in open vats exclusively with the help of natural yeasts present in the air.
Rum Malecon Traditional Recipe
Rum Malecon is distilled from sugar cane molasses and produced in the old Cuban way. For this purpose, the latest distillation equipment and experienced master distillers are available in Panama. After distillation, the rum is reduced to 75% vol. and filled into old bourbon barrels for the finish.
Rum Malecon very long aging
Experts in rum enjoyment know that good rum needs to spend some time in oak barrels to develop complex flavors and its own distinctive note. The good conditions in Panama favor the intended intensive exchange of the distillate with the wood of the old barrels. The very long aging times and the associated highly aromatic products are the hallmark of Rum Malecon.

The assortment at Rum Melecon is divided into 5 different product lines:
